Analysis of Indie Music CD Covers.

From looking and analysing CD Album Covers from simular bands from the same genre of music i realise that most if not all Indie music tend to use very artistic pictures and tend to use alot of colour therefore when i make a CD Cover i am going to use bright colours with artistic pictures.

What is the target audience for ‘Scouting For Girls’?

How did you find the revelant information for Target Audience?

First i viewed the bands website and there was no infromation on their target audience, so i went on Quantcast.com to find out there demographics, however as the band is a UK band and the website finds the US demographics, so i had to find another resource to find the Target Audience.
As i knew that the bands music plays on mtv2, i went on the mtv website to find out the target audience and i found a page on the site which told me the target audience (which i linked the page on a blog post).

Also I wrote out a questionaire about relevant information that would help me construct a Indie music video and sent it to all the people I know on facebook that would be interested in the Indie music genre, then i published the results on my Blog. The reason for this was to understand my target audiencea little bit better so i could understand what sort of things i need to put in the music video in which i will be creating.

the reason for doing this is because the bands i have chosen, do simular music to scouting for girls, which will help me research the target audience and will help me produce the music video in which i will be making.

Target Audience Questionnaire Results Analysis.

All the people that returned the questionnaires to me; all come from different areas, all around 17-18 years of age (fits in with the target audience of the genre), All of them are in education, most of them have jobs (therefore showing that they are mainly working class which also fits in with the target audience), All of them spend from £0 -10 a week on music, and they watch there music videos on either youtube or the television. All but one listen to Indie music.

Things which the target audience would like to see in a Indie Music Video?

Most people said that they would like to see bright colours, local habits, trains and men with guitars.

Locations which the target audience would like to see in a Indie Music Video?

Most people said they would like to see interesting locations and others stated that they would like to see local areas or even a seaside or mountians.

How would you use your results to adapt the information to your video?

When i make a video i am goin to use an intersting location, with use of lots of bright colours, and i realise that most of these people are keen to see interesting things in the video in which they can relate to thier lives like a train station or a local area.
